Albany crash: Man in his 20s taken to AHC following crash on Princess Royal Drive

A man in his 20s was freed from a vehicle after a high-velocity crash with a power pole in Albany on Wednesday. The white Holden Statesman sedan hit a light pole on Princess Royal Drive near the Albany Boat Shed markets at about 3.20pm on Wednesday afternoon, knocking the pole to the ground. The car left the road and down an embankment before coming to a stop. Fire and rescue crews were called to the scene where they freed the passenger using hydraulic equipment. The driver was not trapped and freed himself from the vehicle. The two male occupants of the vehicle, both 20 years old, were taken to Albany Health Campus at normal road speed. The driver is uninjured. A light pole was lying on the island in the middle of Princess Royal Drive. The scene was attended by Albany Police, Albany Fire and Rescue crews, and St John WA.
