Albany kicked off the 2025-26 Great Southern Eight-Ball Classic with wins in both A-grade and B-grade as the first of the three-pronged series got under way in Narrogin last month.

The Classic takes place between teams from Albany, Katanning and Narrogin, who each supply two sides for the two levels of competition.

It was a good weekend for Albany at the New Cornwall Hotel on November 1 and 2, as they finished top and second in the A-grade.

Narrogin’s second team pipped their top side in the battle for third while Katanning were fifth and sixth.

Albany’s top team went through the weekend undefeated, while the second side lost just once, on day two.

In the B-grade, Albany 1 closed out the final round with a 10-6 victory over Katanning 1 to head the final standings in front of Narrogin 1 and Katanning 2.

The highest percentages in the A-grade were notched by Albany’s Roger Tee on 85 per cent, beating Katanning’s David Forrest (65 per cent) and Adam Symonds, of Narrogin (65 per cent).

Top players in the B-grade were Albany’s Daniel Palmer with 80 per cent, with Narrogin’s Hayden Toovey and Cade Turner-Reid on 75 per cent.

Jake Croucher and Chris Lydeamore were the best of Katanning, on 60 per cent.

The competition will next head to Albany on January 31 and February 1 and then to Katanning on May 2-3.
