Albany Junior Soccer Association kicked off their 2020 season in style on the weekend with plenty of smiling faces and goals scored

There was plenty of smiling faces as children of all ages returned to the pitch for the first round of the Albany Junior Soccer Association season on Saturday. The under-15 and under-16 competitions will play in a combined competition throughout the season before playing-off in their respective age groups for the grand finals. Polonia 16s got their season off to a flyer with a commanding 8-0 win over Rovers on Saturday in the 10-team competition. John Calvin exceeded that goal feast on their way to a commanding 10-0 win over Grammar Red to skyrocket straight to the top of the standings. Stirling Rangers 15s and 16s sides started their 2020 campaigns off with impressive victories. The 15s side defeated Denmark 5-2 while the 16s side beat Polonia 15s 4-2. There were 12 goals in the high-scoring clash between Albany Bayswater and Grammar Blue. Albany Bayswater proved far too strong in the end, recording an 8-4 win. In the under-12 competition Denmark started their season in impressive style with a 7-0 win over Bethel Glory while Bethel Blaze recorded a narrow 6-5 win over Grammar Red. Mt Lockyer doubled ACC Southlands’ score to finish 8-4 winners, John Calvin defeated Grammar Blue by one goal and Yakamia and St Joseph’s played out a 1-1 draw. Stirling Rangers found the back of the net with ease on their way to a 10-0 win over Rovers in the under-13 competition while Denmark White and Denmark Black both notched victories. Albany Bayswater recorded a big victory, 20-0 over Grammar in the under-14 competition. It wasn’t the only one-sided score as Rovers won 12-0 over Caledonians while Bethel and Mt Barker also recorded victories. John Calvin and Albany Bayswater played out a fantastic game in the under-18 competition and couldn’t be separated at the final whistle, drawing 4-4. Polonia got their season off on a winning note with a 4-0 result against Denmark.
