An 18-year-old Albany woman has been charged with aggravated robbery after allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old girl in the carpark of Coles in Orana.

Police allege the woman got out of a Holden Captiva about 1.30pm on Sunday and approached the 14-year-old who was walking in the carpark with a friend.

A police spokeswoman said the woman demanded the girl hand over two silver necklaces she was wearing.

“When the victim declined the 18-year-old woman assaulted the victim and verbally threatened her,” the spokeswoman said.

“The 14-year-old was treated at the Albany Health Campus for minor injuries including bruising to her body.”

The 18-year-old from Bayonet Head is due to face Geraldton Magistrate’s Court on May 6.

Albany detectives are calling for anyone who saw the alleged robbery to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestopperswa.com.au.

They particularly want to speak to a man who helped the alleged victim.
