A GoFundMe page has been launched to help support a Denmark family after a devastating car crash left a young mother with life-changing injuries and facing a long and complex recovery.

Zaralee Hira, a devoted mother to three-year-old Alice and fiancee to Coen Logan, was involved in a serious car accident at about 5am on January 12 after her car and another vehicle collided and she was left in the wreckage.

Emergency services sent four fire and rescue crews to the scene at the intersection of Ocean Beach Road and Greenbury Place near Denmark to free her from the car.

Ms Hira sustained serious injuries and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital, where she underwent treatment and multiple surgeries.

Ms Hira’s injuries include a broken left wrist, fractures to her C6 and C7 vertebrae, a fractured pelvis, lacerations, severe bruising to both knees, and stitches to a finger.

Her hip injury alone is expected to take a minimum of eight months to heal and she is currently non-weight bearing following surgery on January 14.

Her wrist injury is expected to take six to eight weeks to heal, while her lacerations and stitches will require care over the coming months.

Organiser of the GoFundMe page Tia Kelly said that first responders and hospital staff praised her “extraordinary strength, determination and resilience in the face of unimaginable trauma” as she continues to recover.

She said any donation would be much appreciated and would go towards helping the family cover medical costs.

“In a single moment, her life, and the lives of her young family, have been forever changed,” she said.

“(The GoFundMe) is really going towards medical expenses, hospital expenses and the travel to (Perth) and from (Denmark), even later on when she’ll need to go into rehabilitation.”

The funds would also go towards follow-up care and the maintenance of the family’s rental property in Denmark.

In a January 29 update to the page, Ms Hira said she had been moved to a rehabilitation hospital and her surgeries were “so far, so good” but she was not yet sure if she would require another surgery.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to all who have supported me in various ways, I feel very loved and supported,” she wrote.

“Words cannot describe what you all are doing for me, I appreciate every single one of you.

“Every single one of you have helped to keep me positive and on track for my recovery.”

Donations can be made to Ms Hira and her family via their GoFundMe page - Supporting Zara and Her Young Family.
