Albany’s sporting elite gathered under one roof on April 23, celebrating a year of standout performances at the city’s annual sportsperson awards.
Held at Retravision Stadium on April 23, the 2025 Wellington and Reeves Sportsperson of the Year Awards honoured the achievements of junior, senior and masters athletes who excelled across a range of disciplines in the past year.
The evening featured Peter Bol, Australia’s 800m record holder and three-time Olympian, as special guest speaker.

Bol delivered an inspiring address, reflecting on his journey from Sudan to representing Australia on the world stage, encouraging young athletes in the room to pursue their ambitions with determination.

Attendees enjoyed a formal night of celebrations, with the community coming together to recognise the dedication and success of Albany’s sporting talent.

AFL star Jordan Clark was named the Wellington and Reeves Albany sportsperson of the year, capping off a strong season at an elite level.
Emerging star Keely Berry took home the Retravision junior sportsperson of the year award, highlighting the strength in the regions next generation of sport.
Mountain biking featured prominently among the winners with Jess Waldron winning the Castlehow senior sportsperson’s award and Tanya Bailey the Sound Life masters’ title.
A special presentation was made to longtime sportsperson judge Alice Rule who is stepping back from the role after decades.
The awards night showcased not only individual excellence but also the depth of sporting talent within Albany.
