More than 300 people braved wet and windy weather to attend the Bornholm Family Fun Day on September 27 with Bornholm Fire Brigade opening its shed to share fire safety awareness.
The free family fun day first began in 2023 as a way to alleviate financial pressure during school holidays and provide activities and areas such as the toddler zone, set up by Mt Lockyer Child and Parent Centre.
Organised by Melissa Wolfe and Janine Ayres from Bornholm Hall, the family day was supported through grants from Rio Tinto and the City of Albany, with fruit donated by IGA York Street and Albany Vegetable Export Growers.
The fire brigade held educational fire safety displays and children were taken through emergency vehicles and shown equipment.
Crowds enjoyed sausage sizzles, entertainment from Jamie the Clown, pot planting, market stalls, children’s art and craft activities, and face painting from Nans Face Art and Earth Parenting.
