I’m a small business owner and sole trader running a successful gardening business.

I have built strong relationships with my clients, and the social connection we share is a rewarding aspect of my work.

Recently, while reaching out to some former clients, I discovered that many have transitioned to the Commonwealth Home Support Program or Home Care Package with Albany Community Care.

Although I am now on the preferred contractor’s list, I am not employed by HGM, its own company, and as a result, several clients have moved to their services, which are substantially subsidised.

I understand these community programs offer important support, and I appreciate that clients are making the best choices for their needs.

At the same time, I want to highlight the unique, personal service that small local businesses like mine can provide.

On a positive note, I was contacted today by someone caring for their mother, who has asked me to assist with their gardening.

I am grateful for the continued trust and opportunities from clients old and new, and I remain committed to providing excellent service to all my clients, regardless of the changing landscape.

I’m sharing this to connect with others who may be navigating similar changes and to seek advice or experiences from fellow small business owners.

Navigating these shifts can be challenging, but I am eager to adapt and continue offering quality service to my community.

If you have insights or suggestions, I would love to hear from you.
