Middleton Beach foreshore works entering next chapter

Middleton Beach foreshore works are entering their next phase, with decking and outdoor shelters in line for construction.

Fencing near Ellen Cove was removed last week, restoring unimpeded access to Albany’s most popular beach.

Progress to date includes a buried granite sea wall, concrete wave deflector, beachfront promenade, paving around Albany Surf Life Saving Club, and all-access beach ramp. Stone retaining and seating walls in the Ellen Cove promenade are almost complete.

City of Albany executive director of infrastructure, development and environment Paul Camins said the carpark work would be finished next month, with the entire project scheduled for completion early in the second half of 2021.

“Works to enhance the Middleton Beach foreshore are entering the next phase with the construction of decking, furniture, outdoor showers, lighting, the installation of shelters and barbecue areas to commence from March,” he said.
