Person allegedly stabbed with ‘cutting instrument’ outside Albany Justice Complex, bloodied area cordoned off

A person has allegedly been stabbed outside the Albany Justice Complex, with police cordoning off an area where a large blood spatter can be seen on the pavement. The alleged attack occurred just after 2pm on Thursday outside the courthouse on Stirling Terrace. Albany-officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Carlos Correia said police believe the two people are known to each other. “There was a bit of commotion between two people, which are believed to be known to each other, when one allegedly produced a cutting instrument.” he said. “Police are conducting further enquiries as to the circumstances of the incident.” He said both people had left the scene and officers were working to confirm their identities and relationship to each other. Sen Sgt Correia said the person’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. Officers cordoned off the bloodied area of the ramp walkway with police tape and could be seen talking to people and courthouse orderlies who may have witnessed the incident. Forensics officers arrived at about 3pm to examine and photograph the scene.
