Albany tourist location closed as police desperately search for 51-year-old Perth woman Naomi Marie Duckett

A large-scale land and sea search at popular Albany tourist spot The Gap has entered its second day, as police continue scouring the area for missing Perth woman Naomi Marie Duckett.

Ms Duckett, 51, was last seen at the attraction, located within the Torndirrup National Park at 11.45am on Thursday, Albany Sgt Vaughan Mackay told media on Saturday morning.

She had travelled alone to Albany from Perth on April 1, and she was reported missing the next day.

A multi-agency search including police air wing, volunteer marine rescue and watercraft, Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, the City of Albany, police drones and police officers examining the coastline commenced shortly after.

DBCA evacuated The Gap, Natural Bridge and Cable Beach on Good Friday afternoon and closed The Gap Road to allow police to conduct their search operation.

“Ms Duckett’s welfare is our main priority,” Sgt Mackay said.

“We are very, very keen to hear from anyone who may have seen Ms Duckett in the area and may have any information in regards to whereabouts to assist police to locate her safely, or the property which may have been recovered in that vicinity as well.”

Sgt Mackay said Ms Duckett was captured by CCTV at the area in the national park and believed visitors may have seen her in the vicinity of The Gap.

“The Gap and Natural Bridge is a well visited natural tourist spot and there would no doubt have been people present when she certainly arrived, and certainly during the day whilst we suspect that she may have been there in that park,” he said.

“Our appeal now is for members of the public who may have seen her, or may have spoken to Ms Duckett, or may have any information in regards to their observations off her.

“Please come forward and notify police.”

The 51-year-old Ms Duckett has brown hair and green eyes, is approximately 171cm tall and is of medium build.

She was last seen wearing spectacles, a dark green coloured jumper, white coloured pants and black shoes.

While Ms Duckett did not have a car, police are looking for a brown shoulder bag she is known to carry.

The Gap Road will remain closed until police have exhausted the search.

Anyone who sees Ms Duckett or has any information regarding her whereabouts is urged to contact police immediately on 131 444.
