Great Southern traffic police are appealing for help from the public after an incident in Lower King when reckless driving forced officers to abandon pursuit of a car.
Police say officers saw a white Holden Commodore driving on Lower King Road about 2.15pm on Thursday with false number plates.
They activated lights and sirens to indicate the driver should pull over, but instead of stopping, the driver accelerated away from the officers and drove recklessly through the suburb at high speeds.
Police pursued the driver but were forced to stop the chase on Menang Drive for their own safety and the safety of others.

Sign upThe Commodore was last seen heading east on Menang Drive on Thursday afternoon.
Police are now investigating the incident and are urging anyone who witnessed it to come forward.
