William Gwynne Griffiths: Former Perth high school teacher intends to fight sex offences against teen in 1990s

A former high school teacher will fight accusations that he committed three sex offences against a teenager alleged to be his student in the 1990s. WIlliam Gwynne Griffiths appeared in Albany Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with two counts of sexually penetrating a child over 16 years under his care and one count of indecently dealing with a child over 16 years old under his authority. The 64-year-old pleaded not guilty to all charges that alleged occurred in Perth in the 1990s against a 17-year-old girl. Mr Griffiths is accused of twice sexually penetrating a child over 16 in Claremont in 1993 between September 9 and 10. He is also accused of indecently dealing with a child over 16 in Highgate on September 9. Police allege the man was a teacher at a high school in Perth when he had a sexual relationship with a female student. He would have been 32 years old at the time. Magistrate Tanya Watt extended his bail in his latest appearance. Mr Griffiths will next appear in Albany District Court for a trial listing hearing on October 22.
