Injured NSW Police officer Scott Dyson wakes from coma after December 14 Bondi terror attack

NSW Police officer Constable Scott Dyson has woken from a medically induced coma more than a week after being critically injured in the Bondi terror attack.

Constable Dyson had been attached to the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command for 18 months before he was injured in the fatal attack.

It has been reported that Constable Dyson has recently learnt he was becoming a father, as his partner had fallen pregnant.

His family have released a statement saying Const. Dyson has undergone near-daily surgeries and had shown signs of strength in recent days.

They have described the development as a “positive sign” and thanked the public and medical staff for their ongoing support.

“Scott has been in a medically induced coma since the event on Sunday 14 December 2025, and has undergone surgery almost daily,” they said.

“Our family would like to share that Scott has been getting stronger each day, and today (Tuesday 23 December 2025), he was woken up for the first time.”

“There is still a long way to go in his recovery, but this is a positive sign.

“We would like to thank the public for the support, messages and well wishes shown to Scott and our family during this difficult time.

“We are also grateful for the tireless work of his medical team.

“Our focus remains on Soctt’s continued recovery and we kindly ask for our family’s privacy to be respected.”
