Artwork from across the Kimberley will go under the hammer at the Environs Kimberley Art Auction at Broome Civic Centre this month.
The auction, to be held on July 25, has become a key event on Broome’s cultural calendar, with artworks consigned directly by artists and art centres from across the region.
Money raised from each artwork sold will go back to the artists and organisations that created them, while proceeds supporting Environs Kimberley will contribute to environmental projects.
Environs Kimberley operations director Liam Wright said the event highlighted the connection between art, community and protecting the Kimberley environment.
“The Art Auction is one of the most spectacular nights on our calendar,” Mr Wright said.
“It’s a chance for the whole community to come together, celebrate the extraordinary talent of Kimberley artists, and directly support both their art centres and the conservation work that protects this region for the future.”
The evening will feature live performances from Lexyanna, Burrb Wanggarraju Nurlu, Groovylips and artist Robert Nanala, alongside food and refreshments.
A preview of the artwork will open from 5pm, before the live auction begins at 6.45pm, hosted by auctioneer Chris Maher.
A silent auction and art raffle will also run throughout the night.
For people unable to attend in person, an online auction will open before the event, with live bidding available via Zoom.
Tickets are available now, with entry options including a $10 door ticket and a $50 early-bird catered ticket, which includes a meal, drink and gift bag.
