Ellenbrook bushfire: Warnings downgraded to ‘advice’ after threatening lives and home

A bushfire that caused residents in Perth’s north-east to evacuate on Friday afternoon has been downgraded.
People in Ellenbrook were issued a “leave now” warning at 12.30pm on Friday as the blaze threatened homes and lives.
The evacuation warning has been lifted but an “advice” order remains in place for Ellenbrook and Bullsbrook locals who are bounded by Tonkin Highway, Pineroo Terrace, Dalgarup Way, Wonnerup Way, Vines Avenue, Banrock Drive, and Maralla Road in the City of Swan.
“The alert level for this fire has been downgraded as fire behaviour has decreased.” the update issued at 5.45pm reads.
“There is no threat to lives or homes.”

Motorists have been urged to slow down and drive carefully throughout the area.
Firefighters and aerial support remain at the scene.
The order comes just one day after a bushfire near the Vines Resort Golf Course prompted authorities to issue an alert, which was later downgraded on Thursday night.
Emergency WA says strong winds caused a flare up of Thursday’s blaze, resulting in the warnings issued on Friday.
Residents in the advice zone have been given the following advice from authorities:
- Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
- Read through your plan and decide what you will do if the situation gets worse. If you do not have a plan, make one now on Emergency WA, or in the Emergency WA app.
- Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
- Close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.
- If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222.
