Busselton students celebrate as ATAR results released

Students from Busselton have secured some of the highest ATAR scores in the State, proving that long nights of study and determination truly pay off.
Several students from Cornerstone Christian College achieved impressive results, including Ethan Maytham with 98.85, Chloe Barrett with 97.85 and Charlotte Blennerhassett with 97.75.
Xavier Lucas from Georgiana Molloy Anglican School achieved a 98.25 ATAR, followed by Sienna Snelson with 98.20.
Xavier told the Times he couldn’t be happier with his result.
“It’s really nice to look back on it and just be proud of the achievement,” he said.
Ethan said his result matched his expectations after putting in the hard work.
“It was nice to finally feel that all the hard work over the last few years has actually paid off, and I’ve got the results that set me up for my future,” he said.
While both students have big plans for the future, they’re also taking time to celebrate their success.
Xavier is planning to take a gap year, where he’ll focus on his two local jobs before heading to Curtin University in 2027.
“I’ve been offered a spot in engineering, but I’m also considering applying for medicine,” he said.
Ethan is set on beginning his Bachelor of Commerce at Curtin University in 2026.
“Then I’ll do a Chartered Accountants program, which will get my CA approval and I’ll do a postgraduate degree in computer science,” he said.
Sienna said she was looking forward to studying a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in music, theatre and English literary studies at the University of Western Australia.
Her biggest study tip was to revise as you go.
“I used a massive whiteboard and I just wrote down everything that I could remember for every subject, so that I knew what I needed to work on,” she said.
When asked about his advice to future Year 12 students, Xavier said practice papers were a huge help.
“It really helped me get familiar with the types of questions they throw at you and the content they like to test,” he said.
Ethan highlighted the importance of finding balance in Year 12.
“Don’t spend 24/7 with your mates and no time on your homework. But don’t spend 24/7 on your homework and no time with your mates,” he said.
“You want to find the balance every week, you’ve got to have something that will take your mind off studying and de-stress you.”
An ATAR above 90 means students scored higher than 90 per cent of Year 12 students.
Georgiana Molloy school this year celebrated its highest-ever median ATAR of 86.70.
Cornerstone college also shared its own milestones in a Facebook post that Year 12s had a median ATAR of 83.95, with 36 per cent of students receiving a VET qualification.
