Leavers WA this week announced it will move forward in an almost-normal format opting to include the popular Entertainment Zone and Meelup Beach Day.

The two events were sought after the State Government announced more than 500 people could attend music-style shows — as long as an approved COVID-19 event plan was in place.

Leavers WA project manager Clint Browning said the announcement had allowed the management team to seek approval and move forward in a COVID-19 safe format.

“We have always strongly believed that having safe and attractive areas for Leavers to celebrate, supplemented with volunteer and other agency support, is the best outcome for the school leavers and the community of the South West,” he said.

Mr Browning said due to the change in delivery, wristband prices would be revisited and published in the next few weeks.

“We expect similar numbers to last year and furthermore are catering for a potential increase in numbers due to the border closures restricting interstate and international travel.”

The Leavers team is working on the COVID-19 safe application, to be submitted to the Health Department for approval.
