Coronavirus crisis: South Australia goes into six day lockdown as COVID-19 cluster grows

South Australia will go into a six-day lockdown to combat a growing coronavirus outbreak.

A COVID-19 cluster in Parafield in Adelaide’s north has grown to 22.

Premier Steven Marshall says pausing community activity will significantly reduce the risk of the virus spreading further.

“We need this circuit breaker, this community pause. We are at a critical point, but we will get through this,” he said.

As of midnight tonight all schools, restaurants, pubs, building sites and gyms will be closed.

Outdoor sport, weddings and regional travel will be banned and aged care homes will go into lockdown.

Masks will be mandatory outside the home.

South Australia Chief Public Health Officer Professor Nicola Spurrier confirmed two new coronavirus cases, both linked to the Parafield cluster.

There have been 11,000 tests conducted in the State over the past two days.
