Adam Charles Lusk: WA father accused of drugging and raping 13 women including three teenagers give evidence

A civil engineer who allegedly drugged and violated more than a dozen women he met online claims he filmed himself with one of his alleged victims while she was passed out to “tease her” about being “lazy”. Adam Charles Lusk also claimed in his evidence that the woman would regularly “run out of energy” when they hooked up and told him to “wake her up” on that occasion after he said he wanted to continue despite the fact she wanted to sleep. The 45-year-old has spent the past three weeks on trial in the District Court of WA accused of 100 offences, including multiple counts of rape relating to 13 alleged victims, most of them via social media apps such as Sugar Daddy Meet and Tinder between April 2020 and January 2022. Four of the complainants were teenagers. The father-of-two denies he drugged any of the women but admits the sexual encounters took place, claiming they were consensual. He is also accused of recording most of the alleged rapes, with the court told none of the women knew they had been filmed. The court has been told that one of those women was an overseas student whom Mr Lusk met on Tinder in 2019. Footage of the woman allegedly being raped by Mr Lusk had been given to police before his arrest by someone he knew. However, because the woman in the video could not be identified at the time, their inquiries were put on hold. She was later identified after police seized his devices following his arrest in January 2022. In his testimony, Mr Lusk told the trial the pair had a casual sexual relationship for about six months and that during their encounters, the woman was not “overly active”. He said he used to tease her about being “lazy” and claimed that when he filmed them in April 2020, it was a “joke thing”. He claimed earlier, the pair had engaged in consensual sex and that the woman became tired and wanted to sleep, so he decided to clean up around the house. He testified that he agreed to let her sleep and claimed she told him to wake her up when he was finished. “She said that was fine, and when I finished cleaning to wake her up,” he said. “I knew she was going to do her ‘I can’t be bothered lazy thing’ that’s why I set up the iPad to tease her later.” In her evidence, the woman told the court she had no memory of the video being made or having sex that night. She told the trial when she went to Mr Lusk’s house that day, she had a headache and that he gave her a “headache pill” as well as a Corona beer. She said she had a few sips and woke up the next day, sore around her thighs and unaware of what had taken place. “I was in his bed,” she said. “I was very tired and confused.” When she was asked if she gave Mr Lusk permission to have sex with her while she was asleep, the woman testified she did not. She also said she never gave him permission to record her and only became aware of the video when police contacted her in 2022. The trial has also heard evidence from the person who discovered the video of the woman on Mr Lusk’s iPad. That witness testified after discovering the footage in November 2020, they confronted Mr Lusk, with the court shown a series of test messages between the two. In one message, the person wrote: “She was roofied”. Mr Lusk replied: “No she wasn’t. We’d been f****** all afternoon and she bombed out. He also wrote: “She liked to get wasted and f*****. She was drunk AF”. The person told the court they handed the material over to police in March 2021. The trial continues.
