Baby photographer Melissa Sheed, who allegedly ‘failed to supply images to parents’, fights charges

A baby photographer accused of failing to supply images to parents for photos they had paid for has denied six charges – setting up the prospect of a trial. Melissa Anne Jane Sheed appeared in the Perth Magistrate’s Court today on multiple allegations of accepting payments for goods from consumers but failing to supply them — an alleged breach of Australian Consumer Law. She is accused of accepting almost $12,000 to take baby photos that were never supplied. An arrest warrant previously had to be issued for the Aubin Grove woman after numerous attempts by Consumer Protection to serve her with a court summons failed. Today, she appeared in court with her lawyer – entering not guilty pleas to all the charges. She also had her bail altered, so she will not have to report weekly to a police station as she has been doing for months. When news of the charges broke last year, Daniel Langoulant and his partner claimed to 7NEWS they paid almost $1500 for a shoot with their son Kai, but only received one photo. “Yeah, he is two and a half now. It’s just a moment we’ll never have,” he alleged. Ms Sheed claims she has proof everyone received their photos. Commissioner for Consumer Protection Lanie Chopping had also previously said she was pleased that the case was finally before the courts. “This matter has created a lot of stress and anxiety for some parents who claim they are still waiting to receive images that can now never be replaced,” Ms Chopping said. “So they and Consumer Protection are looking forward to this case being considered by the court with the hope of a satisfactory conclusion for all parties involved.”
