VideoParents of Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson travel to Mexico to attend the trial of three men accused of murdering their sons during a 2024 surfing trip.

The verdict in the Mexican murder trial of three men accused of killing Perth brothers Callum and Jake Robinson in 2024 is expected to be handed down soon.

Martin and Debra Robinson flew from Perth to be in the small Ensenada courtroom for the trial of Jesus Gerardo, also known as El Kekas, Irineo Francisco and Angel Jesus, who are facing charges of aggravated homicide, aggravated robbery, violent robbery and grand theft auto.

The month-long trial saw testimony from dozens of witnesses, including Mr Robinson who told the court of the “hell” he and his wife had endured since losing “two sons in horrific circumstances”.

Jake and Callum Robinson, aged 30 and 33 respectively, and their friend Carter Rhoad, 30, were on a surfing trip in Mexico’s Pacific coast when they were shot dead in Baja California, in an alleged robbery.

The prosecution is seeking 150 years in prison for each of the accused, according to The Guardian.

They were expected to present closing arguments on Thursday afternoon in Ensenada (about 3am on Friday WA time).

On conclusion of those arguments, the judge is expected to announce his verdict, and if convicted, the three men will be sentenced.

Mr and Mrs Robinson had previously urged the case be finalised before their scheduled flight home, to which the judge agreed.
