Stacey Leigh Cunningham to plead not guilty over horror Geraldton crash which killed daughter and another child

A mother charged over a fatal crash which killed two young children, including her own daughter, is set to face trial. Stacey Leigh Cunningham, is charged with driving under the influence of an illicit drug and three counts of careless driving causing death or bodily harm resulting from the June 1 crashed 19km south of Geraldton. The WA Day long weekend horror crash occurred when the small Mazda 3 Ms Cunningham was driving collided with a Ford F250 ute at an intersection. The Mazda was ripped apart in the crash and Nate Stewart, 7, and Harmonie Cunningham, 10, died at the scene while their family-friend Cameron Byfield suffered serious injuries. During a brief hearing at the Perth Magistrate’s Court today, Ms Cunningham‘s lawyer Ashlee Taylor said her client indicated that she would plead not guilty. Her bail was extended and she is set to face court again in April for a trial allocation date. The 30-year-old mother did not speak in court apart from confirming her name, and remained silent as she walked out with her fiancé Cheyne Stewart, who is also the father of the boy that died in the crash. During a previous hearing last year, Ms Cunningham sat at the back of the court sobbing while waiting for her name to be called.
