Ethan Kevin Scott: Father alleged to have broken baby’s leg during family violence incident in Geraldton

A Geraldton father allegedly broke the leg of his two-month old daughter during a family violence incident on Friday night when police say he tried to hit his partner but missed, striking the infant instead. Geraldton detectives arrested and charged Ethan Kevin Scott, 23, with causing grievous bodily harm to the child. Det-Sen. Sgt Bruce McDonald said police were called to the Beresford home shortly before midnight on July 23 and found an injured woman and baby. “It’s alleged the accused and his partner were driving home when an argument escalated into assault,” he said. “The (alleged) assault continued when they got home and the accused swung at the woman, missed, and hit the baby’s leg.” He said the woman and baby were rushed to Geraldton Hospital and later flown to Perth Children’s Hospital for specialist care. Det-Sen. Sgt McDonald said the accused man was arrested a short time later and charged with aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm, grievous bodily harm and breaching protective bail conditions. He appeared in court over the weekend and was remanded into custody ahead of his next appearance on Thursday. A spokesperson for Perth Children’s Hospital on Monday said the baby girl was in a stable condition at the hospital.
