Sydney shooting: Man shot dead at Sydney's Bondi Junction, streets shut

A major police operation is under way at Sydney’s Bondi Junction after reports a man has been shot dead.

There are reports the man shot dead is Alen Moradian, a convicted cocaine kingpin considered to be a key player in Sydney’s underworld.

Gun shots were heard about 8.30am on Tuesday, with roads surrounding Spring Street shut down soon after near the popular Westfield shopping complex.

“A police operation is under way on Spring Street, Bondi Junction following reports of shots fired,” NSW Police told AAP in a statement.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting the man was shot dead in his car at Bondi Junction, with police believing it is the latest in a spate of gangland killings in Sydney.

Road closures are in place and drivers are being urged to avoid the area.

The police operation is in place between Spring St (cnr Newland St) and Denison St, Waverley Council said.

A police helicopter is hovering over Bondi Junction and police have taped off the area.
