A nine-year-old girl has revealed the terrifying moments she says a man followed her while she was walking home from school.

Bella Boyer was walking home in Quinns Rocks on Thursday when she says a man emerged from bushes on St Barnabus Boulevard.

“He had this creepy smile on his face and said ‘come here’,” she told 7NEWS Perth.

Bella ran but she said the man followed her as far as Foundation Park.

“He was wearing all black clothes, black boots, black hair and a big beard,” Bella said.

Her mother, Nicole Boyer, said it was “every parent’s worst nightmare”.

When her little girl came home, she knew something was wrong.

“There's this guy and he's, like, going to get me,” Bella told her mum.

Ms Boyer responded: “What guy was trying to get you? Where is he?”

Police have been making inquiries.

But in the meantime, the message from the Boyer family is clear: Stay alert, and stay away from strangers.

“Make sure you don’t listen to the man,” Bella said.
