Ryan Turner: British national awaiting deportation over alleged links to neo-nazi network White Australia

A British national is awaiting deportation after his visa was cancelled over alleged links to neo-nazi movement “White Australia”. Ryan Turner had been living in Perth when he was detained by Australian Border Force officials earlier this week. It is understood the Department of Home Affairs cancelled his visa on character grounds over his alleged links to the National Socialist Network, Australia’s largest neo-nazi group. The British national was reportedly helping lead the extremist group’s boxing training in WA. Immigration Minister Tony Burke said the Federal Government will not tolerate bigotry and hate. “Our government has zero tolerance for bigotry and hate. If you don’t like Australia you can leave,” Mr Burke said. Mr Turner is in immigration detention awaiting deportation back to the UK. NSN member Stephen Wells, a self-proclaimed political activist who ran for council in the City of Busselton in 2023, has since penned a piece online claiming Mr Turner had “made the mistake of being seen in the vicinity of NSN members in Perth at the March for Australia rally and for going to the pub with them afterwards”. “Ryan has never taken part in any NSN activism, never donned the uniform, never put himself in the spotlight, never even posted his opinions on social media,” Mr Wells said. “Ryan has been part of our community group EAM (European Australia Movement) for about a year. He is a professional MMA coach.” It follows the cancellation of South African national Matthew Gruter’s visa in November, after he took part in the NSN’s antisemitic rally outside NSW Parliament. Mr Gruter, his wife and baby were deported to South Africa in December. Met by media upon his return, Mr Gruter claimed he had been unfairly treated.
