A man wanted over a suspected burglary in Geraldton will face assault charges after allegedly biting and stabbing two police officers during his arrest.

Police allege the 23-year-old Narrogin man struggled violently with officers on Thursday evening, biting one of them on the arm before momentarily breaking free.

A Taser was used to subdue him, after which he began to struggle again before stabbing a second officer with a scissor blade in the wrist, forearm and bicep, police said.

The officers were both taken to hospital for treatment, while the man has been charged with acts intended to prevent arrest, unlawful wounding and assault.

His bail was refused and he is due to appear in the Geraldton Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
