Young boy charged after allegedly threatening Armadale shopping centre staff with knife twice in two days

An 11-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly threatening retail staff with big kitchen knives during two separate incidents at a shopping centre in Perth’s south-eastern suburbs. Police arrested the young boy on Tuesday morning, just moments after he allegedly tried to flee Armadale Shopping City with a knife in hand. Police said he first entered the store on Jull Street at about 8.10pm on Monday, where he is accused of removing a large kitchen knife from a display and threatening a 14-year-old employee before running from the scene. At about 10.45am on Wednesday, the boy allegedly returned to the same store, again armed with a knife taken from the shelves, and made threats to stab another staff member. The boy allegedly fled the store with the weapon, but was quickly tracked down by officers nearby and arrested. He has since been charged with two counts of armed robbery and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear in Perth Children’s Court on Friday. Police said the staff members were left shaken by the ordeal.
