A year for the young Buccs

It may not have been a great year on the scoreboard . . . but it’s been a great one for youngsters. So said Buccaneers legend Mat Wundenberg when talking about the players used by the Buccs in the West Coast Classic, a stand-in competition for the State Basketball League season. “That’s been the silver lining of the year,” Wundenberg said. “The young ones have got a real taste of the real thing . . . and they and the club will have some runs on the board for next year. “They seen what the tempo of the game is like, seen the preparation, scouting and the attention to detail required. “They’ve been doing the work — an old fella like me has just been putting around helping where I can.” However, by the look of this photograph taken last weekend, Wundenberg is still doing what he does best. The Buccs play Willetton on Saturday, September 12.
