Aboriginal Cadet Program applications now open to join the WA Police Force

The WA Police Force is recruiting officers, with Aboriginal Cadet Program applications now open for those looking to pursue a career as a police officer. Local woman Tiana Batchelor, who recently completed her cadetship in her hometown at the Geraldton Police Station, is currently working as a recruit in Perth. She said the program offered opportunities to work alongside police officers around the State, and provided the experience necessary to pursue a career in policing. The program offers competitive training and salary packages from $33,211 to $51,498 per year, with uniform and leave entitlements, and the satisfaction of making a difference within the community. The position will make important training and formal classes, with North Metropolitan TAFE available and support offered throughout the training process. Mentors will help further the successful applicants’ career goals and progress. “You‘ll become part of a supportive, caring team who always has your back. Our helpful supervisors will be with you every step of the way to guide you to get the best out of your training,” WA Police wrote. The program is part of the Equal Opportunities Act to value diversity in the workforce. Limited positions are available in regional locations. Applications close on August 1.
