St John Ambulance’s Christmas campaign has ended, with 700 gifts donated to Anglicare.

St John Geraldton and other ambulance sub-centres around WA set up “giving trees” for employees, volunteers and community members to put children’s gifts under earlier this month.

The gifts were then handed to Anglicare WA to give to struggling families.

St John chief executive Michelle Fyfe said the organisation gave about $201 million to charity each year.

Anglicare boss Mark Glasson said the support from St John Ambulance meant families would have some stress relief this festive season.

“We know some parents will resort to borrowing money from payday lenders so their kids don’t miss out, but thanks to this thoughtful donation from St John, many families will be spared spiralling further into financial stress,” he said.
