Annual Salvation Army toy run to help more than 50 families this Christmas

The Geraldton community got in the festive spirit last Saturday as more than 100 people turned up to support the annual Salvation Army toy run. Salvation Army Major Peter Swindler said there were more than 40 bikes on display from the Ulysses Motorcycle Club, which began their parade from the Geraldton Library and finished at Dome. “There was a trailer-load of toys and gifts given which will go to help more than 50 families this Christmas time,” he said. While Saturday’s run numbers were down compared with previous years, Mr Swindler said plans were already in place for a bigger event next year. “Just a big thank-you for the community and the support that they see in helping other families have a better Christmas than what they would be looking at,” he said. Mr Spindler thanked Dome and IGA for their support on the day as well as the Geraldton City Band for providing the festive tunes.
