Assault-accused Geraldton woman Siana Jade Mahe to work at local bar after pub ban is lifted

A Geraldton woman who was barred from licensed premises after being accused of taking part in a brutal stabbing in August has been permitted to work at a pub. Siana Jade Mahe, 27, is accused of punching and kicking the alleged victim when he fell to the ground after her fiance Ian McDougall — a patched member of the Mongols bikie gang — allegedly stabbed the man seven times. Police will allege the attack outside the Geraldton Hotel on August 26 was sparked by an incident between Mr McDougall’s son Degan and the 35-year-old alleged victim. All four accused were granted bail with several conditions, including being prohibited from entering licensed premises. Ms Mahe appeared in Geraldton Magistrates Court last week to apply to remove this condition as she had secured employment at the Provincial Hotel. MORE NEWS Her lawyer said the publicans were aware of the charges against Ms Mahe but were “happy to give her an opportunity” to work. Prosecutor Sen. Const. Dean Solman said police “strongly opposed” the bail variation as it increased the likelihood of the alleged victim coming into contact with Ms Mahe. “There is a risk the victim could be intimidated or threatened if he frequented the Provincial,” he said. But Ms Mahe’s lawyer said the chance of this occurring while she was at work was “very low”. He said it would be Ms Mahe’s responsibility to remove herself if the alleged victim did attend. The bail variation was approved and Ms Mahe will appear in court again on December 2.
