ATLAS and the City of Greater Geraldton team up for wheelchair basketball sessions

Kids turned out to the Geraldton foreshore on Thursday to enjoy the latest offering from the City of Greater Geraldton’s school holiday program — wheelchair basketball . The session, held at Geraldton foreshore basketball court, was put on by ATLAS in collaboration with the council. ATLAS is a non-profit charity organisation that works to increase people with disabilities access and inclusion in the community. Volunteer Steve Cooper said: “it’s been running for several years, it’s a very successful program. We get about 20 kids each time, it’s to raise awareness for people with disabilities. “Then we also have a wheelchair basketball competition and that’s done at the stadium as well.” “So people have got options, we also visit schools and go to the shires in the region to run the same program,” he said.
