Behind scenes with the Buccs

The Geraldton Buccaneers are back on the road tomorrow and big man LIAM HUNT takes us behind the scenes.

Aaron Ralph is a hard man to tolerate — at any time.

But on the bus, he can be the funniest — yet most “over-the-top” — person you can meet.

And that’s not even mentioning his patience level for anything.

Mathew Wundenberg has the most outrageous jokes you’ll ever hear. Mat has a quick wit and is bloody funny when you get him going. However, if Freo (Dockers) lose, you probably won’t hear from him for three or four days.

I’ll put myself down as having the worst bladder on the team, thanks to one mythical story, which you will have to force out of someone else. I room with (Marcus) Alipate and (Deangelo) Isby.

I go to breakfast in the lobby with Colter Lasher at 8am sharp, then wait for Mat, Ralphy and Joey Iaria to come back and complain about how bad their breakfast was.

But they refuse to eat at the hotel. Stubborn.

Our best road trips are the ones where we have Monday off work, or we all decide to take the day off, because we just have a little more fun, a couple more stops, and just enjoy the trip together.

We create nicknames for each other, have fine sessions, and play heaps of games on the way down and back.

Every road trip is one to remember — and by far some of our favourite times as a team.
