The Beresford Foreshore redevelopment has been recognised in the 2019 Western Australian Coastal Awards for Excellence.

The City of Greater Geraldton was a joint winner in the category of coastal design, heritage and tourism.

State Planning Minister Rita Saffioti said the redevelopment was a collaborative project led by the city, which provided an “accessible and unique” tourism experience.

The $18.8 million project, which took two years to complete, was officially opened in October last year.

The other winner in the category was the City of Cockburn, for its Coogee Maritime Trail.
