Big screen production continues filming in Geraldton at various locations including foreshore, Macedonian Club
TV fever has swept Geraldton, with the city continuing to host film crews filming a new Stan series at various locations over the coming weeks.
Filming this week of the Stan adaptation of local author Holden Sheppard’s debut novel Invisible Boys started in Geraldton at sites including a Sunset Beach toilet block, the Ocean Centre Hotel, Geraldton Foreshore and Macedonian Club.
The city has advised that filming will take place in Geraldton over four weeks.
Keen onlookers have been keeping their eyes peeled for any sign of action, but roads have been blocked off to the public.
Crews, trucks and signs have been seen at the various filming locations. Large trucks filled with production equipment, branded with the Stan logo, have been spotted.
Other filming sites have included John Batten Community Centre in Drummond Cove and the recreation ground.
On Thursday, orange cones were used to block off parking spaces at the foreshore between Champion Bay Surf Life Saving Club and Beached Barrel.
City of Greater Geraldton mayor Jerry Clune said the city had been in discussions with the production company and crew for a couple of months about the series which is set in Geraldton and follows a group of queer teens growing up in regional WA.
Mr Clune said a little inconvenience during filming was a “small price to pay” for the potential publicity Geraldton would receive when the series went to air.
Neither the production company nor Sheppard have commented on the filming.
