Billy Jack breezes home at Geraldton Turf Club on Melbourne Cup day for Rhona MacPhilomey, Megadon wins
Geraldton trainer Rhona MacPhilomey had a brilliant day at Geraldton Turf Club on Melbourne Cup Day with a first and a third from three races.
Billy Jack won in race two for MacPhilomey against the odds, easily beating Willie Parker’s The Chaser.
Friar the Gun, trained by Perth-based Adam Durrant, had been the favourite but missed the placings.
A Steamy Affair placed third in race three for MacPhilomey, behind two local horses in Ron Cowl-trained Black Trumpet and Playing Up, trained by Fenella Martin.
Local favourite Megadon , who was favoured before race four, beat another Geraldton horse in State Prosecutor, trained by Garry Delane, and Durrant’s Snip-n-Tuck.
Megadon’s trainer, Ashley Maley, trains at Gingin but races at Geraldton.
