Three days out from the State election, Member for Geraldton Ian Blayney has had his head shaven for charity.

Mr Blayney said it was the 10th time he had participated in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave, and this time WA Nationals leader Mia Davies was the celebrity barber.

Mr Blayney said he loved the experience.

“It’s great,” he said.

“You get all the hair off your scalp and it’s much cooler and much easier to wash, easy to comb and brush.”

His wife Barb said it was always an emotional experience for her.

“It always reminds me of the people that I’ve known that have died from leukaemia that have had that bald head look,” she said.

“A young boy who was at school with our son, he died of leukemia and I always see him with his bald head.”

Mr Blayney said he had raised about $1000 for the charity, including $200 from Danny Skoglie who had Mr Blayney shave his hair and beard for him immediately afterwards.
