A boy died when a motorcycle and a car collided in Geraldton last night.

Police said the 14-year-old from Spalding, a pillion passenger on the motorcycle, was critically injured at the scene and died a short time later at Geraldton Hospital.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 17-year-old Geraldton youth, was seriously injured and taken to Geraldton Hospital.

The car driver, a 22-year-old Sunset Beach man, was unhurt.

The accident happened just before 8pm at the intersection of North West Coastal Highway and Eighth Street, Wonthella.

Police said a white coloured Honda CBR motorcycle was travelling north along the highway and, as it turned into Eighth Street, it collided with a green coloured Jeep Cherokee.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the crash, or the Honda motorcycle or Jeep Cherokee before to the crash.
