Brentley Steven Comeagain: Rangeway man charged with threatening friend with used needle

A Geraldton man has appeared in Geraldton court facing multiple charges after allegedly threatening his friend with a used syringe. Brentley Steven Comeagain appeared via videolink in Geraldton Magistrates Court from Greenough Prison, where he is remanded in custody over the alleged incident on Saturday, April 27. He pleaded not guilty to two charges of being armed or pretending to be armed in a way that may cause fear, one charge of making a threat to unlawfully do an act, one count of threaten to kill, and one count of common assault. The court was told Mr Comeagain was at an address in Rangeway when he sat next to his friend while he allegedly injected drugs. Police prosecutor Thomas Potts said Mr Comeagain moved the needle like he was going to administer drugs to the friend. Mr Comeagain and the alleged victim allegedly had an argument, during which he picked up the used syringe and told her he would stab her with it and that it was contaminated with AIDS. This continued for a short time before the alleged victim was able to leave the house and call the police, the court was told. It is further alleged that later that day, the friend returned to the Rangeway address and talked to Mr Comeagain through a window. Mr Comeagain allegedly pulled a speargun from behind a door and said “get back to the road or I will shoot you”, which is when the alleged victim ran across the road. The accused then reportedly picked up a bicycle seat and threw it at the friend, prompting her to duck behind a fence and seek shelter in a neighbours’ house, asking them to call police. Magistrate Kelly Thompson made note of Mr Comeagain’s lack of offending since 2022 and that he had completed his last court order. “I will be releasing you to bail today, although you do have a fairly lengthy criminal history,” she said. Under his bail conditions, Mr Comeagain must live at his mother’s address in Utakarra, report to Geraldton police station every Monday and Friday, not contact the alleged victim by any means and abstain from using drugs. A trial has been listed for July 18.
