A 31-year-old man who hit speeds of 167km/h in a 90km/h zone and was caught flipping the bird at as he was spotted by a speed camera has been fined and had his licence suspended. Bryce Wade Hoey was charged with speeding more than 45km/h over the speed limit after being caught riding his Harley-Davidson on North West Coastal Highway in Glenfield on April 17 at 10.15 am. At the time, he was wearing no protective clothing other than a helmet, and rather was wearing a T-shirt, shorts and thongs. Hoey appeared in Geraldton Magistrates Court on Thursday where he pleaded guilty and accepted responsibility for what his lawyer Kate Fry described as a “poor choice”. Magistrate Elaine Campione said Hoey’s actions were “disgraceful” but acknowledged he had no prior record. He was given a $1200 fine and his driver’s licence was suspended for six months.
