A bag containing nearly $2000 found on a road by police was claimed today.

Officer in charge at Cue Police Station, Sergeant Clint Brennan, said the bag containing $1938 in cash belonged to a group of men who were working about 150 kilometres from Cue, in WA’s Mid West.

The money was a kitty for food and entertainment expenses.

Police were able to contact the men after discovering a company fuel card inside the tartan toiletries bag.

Constable Scott Mason spotted the bag in Austin Road last Thursday afternoon, while running an errand.

Sgt Brennan said the men were unsure how the bag came to land on the road.

“They did say there were going to ‘fine’ one of the guys for losing it,” Sgt Brennan said.
