The final week of the Geraldton Hockey Association saw Casuals upset at the hands of the Saints as they were denied their perfect season in a 4-1 loss. The Saints stunned the ladder leaders with four goals from Zac McGowan, Andrew Golding, Lucas Ronan and Adam Burrows as the Casuals lost their first game on the eve of the finals. Rovers secured second place with a 2-0 win over Australs with Tyler Allen and James Van Niftrik scoring as they finish one point ahead of third-placed Saints. Murchison finish with the wooden spoon but will be encouraged by the second half of their season as they drew 2-all with Yacht Club. Denver Weldon and Michael Evans matched Matt Chamberlain and Daniel Lennard’s efforts for Murchison. In the Women’s A-grade Saints condemned Swans to a winless season with a tight 1-nil win thanks to a goal from Renee Marchetti as the Swans finish with just one point from their 16 games Murchison played out an entertaining match with Australs as a Lauren Martin double proved the difference in the 3-2 result. It means Murchison finishes the season second behind the undefeated Cardinals and ahead of Australs with Saints well back in fourth. The men’s A-reserve had the top two teams play at a draw as Casuals and Yacht Club couldn’t be separated at 2-2. Darren Shepley scored both for Casuals while Jay O’Sullivan and Dean Schwartz got on the scoresheet for Yacht Club. Rovers smashed Murchison 6-0 with Damon Valenti and Ben Luscombe both scoring doubles as Murchison finished with 16 losses from 16 games and a goal difference of over 100 against them.
