Those aspiring to become Geraldton’s own Margot Robbie and Chris Hemsworth took to the stage to transport audiences back in time last weekend.

Theatre 8’s junior troupe brought to life Craig Hawes’ stone-age musical Rock Bottom, in which the tempestuous old woman Lady Lava (played by Elise Breen) enlists the help of young inventor Bobby (Ellie Perry) to restore her youthful beauty.

The secret to achieving the task lies in a mystical rock — fittingly called cellulite — but Lady Lava later discovers it is dangerous to play games with time.

The talented young cast performed three shows, with not a single line forgotten across the weekend.

While she admitted performing was often nerve-racking, Elise said she felt like her best self whenever she was on stage.

“I love to let my voice be heard, and I feel I can express myself a lot through doing acting and plays,” she said.

“It’s really fun to slip into different characters, like cowboys, pirates and wizards.”

Fellow actor Mina Elliott joined Theatre 8 after seeing how much fun her friend had onstage, and encouraged others to give acting a go.

“It is such an inviting environment,” she said.
