Chapman Athletic and Abrolhos take round one wins of the Knockout Cup

The women’s Knockout Cup is under way in the Mid West Soccer Association, with Chapman Athletic and Abrolhos storming through the first round.

The annual competition takes place during the regular season and has teams going head-to-head for the Knockout Cup title.

Round one took place on Monday, and the reigning champions Chapman Athletic were up against Rovers.

Athletic were too good for the Rovers side, getting up 4-1 and earning their spot in round two. Tyler Price bagged three goals in the win.

Laura Patel added another goal for the 2023 cup winners, while Ebony Bu was the lone scorer for Rovers in the loss.

Meanwhile Abrolhos dominated Olympic 6-1 to move into round two.

Abrolhos shared the love during the win, with each of Hailee Hill, Amy Langman, Ava Gould, Hannah Nygren and Paige Carslake scoring. Jana Van Staden was Olympic’s goal scorer.

Now the winners move on to the second round and get a break before the next matches. Abrolhos will take on the La Fiamma ladies, while Chapman Athletic face Marconi on Monday, June 24.
