What an incredible year we have had here at the City of Greater Geraldton! As many of us relax (hopefully) into the holidays it is a great opportunity to take a moment to reflect on all that has been achieved in 2023. Just few of the notable highlights to come out of the City were the reopening of the Geraldton Aquarena’s outdoor pool and the opening of the Chapman Road shared path, bringing home a silver medal in the GWN7 Top Tourism Town Awards, a stunning new mural for Geraldton Regional Art Gallery and a swag of awards across a range of the City’s teams. It was also an event-filled year with a hugely successful Big Sky Readers and Writers Festival, Australia Day, an abundance of exhibitions at GRAG, Anzac Day, Mullewa Muster, Revolve Skate Series, Battle of the Bands, All Ability Day and numerous cruise ship visits. All topped off by the increasingly popular Christmas on the Terrace and local domination at the Mid West Art Prize opening night. The new year will be upon us before we know it and promises so much to look forward to including the opening of AMC Park in Spalding as well as the improved Meru Transfer Station and the return of Iwarra Wilungga. This festive season I encourage everyone to slow down, enjoy time with loved ones, take a deep breathe and embrace all that we have to be grateful for as a community. I also urge everyone to make an effort to check on those around us that may be struggling or less fortunate. And if you are travelling, be patient on the roads and consider others. I look forward to seeing you all in 2024!
