Christmas on the Terrace attracts massive turnout as Geraldton’s main strip turns into festive wonderland

It’s one of Geraldton’s most popular community events and Christmas on the Terrace was back in full force last Thursday night, with the city’s main strip jam-packed with festive punters. Three main stages were set up along Marine Terrace to keep the public entertained, whether it was live music, the Geraldton City Band, choirs or dancers. New this year was the Blue Heeler Festival Square at the site of the Old Victoria Hotel, which housed one of the stages as well as a bevy of food trucks and various spots for people to sit down and soak up all the fun and festivity. The site is set to turn into a permanent pop-up entertainment hub after the State Government provided a $250,000 Regional Economic Development grant to the owners. Whether it was Showbag Alley, Slushie Central or getting a photo with Santa, there were plenty of options along the terrace to keep the kids entertained. The event ran from 5pm to 8.30pm, with appearances from Santa Claus, the Christmas Grinch and other festive characters.
