The City of Greater Geraldton will hold an agenda forum in Walkaway next year for the first time.

At the ordinary council meeting on Tuesday, October 23, councillors unanimously adopted the proposed meeting schedule for 2019.

July’s agenda forum will be held in Walkaway. The March and August agenda forums will be in Mullewa.

Cr Tarleah Thomas made the motion.

“It’s nice to see we’re holding a meeting in Walkaway,” she said.

“Hopefully, we’ll expand that in the future to other areas of Geraldton instead of being stifled and staying in the same spot.”

Cr Steve Douglas said the decision would encourage locals to ask questions and “value-add” to the meetings.

Agenda forums will continue to be held on the third Tuesday of the month, with ordinary meetings held on the fourth Tuesday.

October’s meetings will be brought forward to avoid clashing with the council election on October 19.

The dates for December’s meetings will also be brought forward because of the Christmas holiday period.

Concept forums, which are closed to the public, will take place on the first Tuesday of the month, except in November, when it will occur on the Wednesday to avoid clashing with the Melbourne Cup.
